Muslims often say two things.

1) Salvation is by good works

2) “We love death more than you love life”

First, it says plainly here in the authentic hadith, that no one can enter Paradise through their good deeds.  A person’s good deeds are never enough.  There is no guarantee.  It is only the mercy of God.  It makes things uncertain for a Muslim.  He may be merciful, but what if he isn’t?

Muhammad himself say he did not know what would happen to him, if he would enter into Paradise or not.  He said he was only a warner (Quran 46:9).  This is affirmed in Bukhari 1243.

The difference in what Jesus taught is that we can have confidence of our salvation. It is not arbitrary mercy, but the cross that paid for our sins.

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1, ESV)

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:13, ESV)

Secondly, jihadis claim “we love death more than you love life.”  Why would a good God desire death in the first place?  Why would God create life and then only desire for people to destroy it?

Regardless, this hadith says plainly, “do not desire death.”  So don’t.  Jihadis, if you are saying these kinds of things and desiring death, you are going against your own teachings.
